Ten years ago, the small village of Bundanoon in the Southern Highlands became the world’s first single-use plastic bottle free town.

Our business community committed to being socially responsible by refusing to sell what comes free from a tap. With council’s support, free water refill stations were installed in the village. At the same time, this small act was revolutionary, and we became world news even appearing on the front page of the New York Times.

Ten years on, our small town is still making a difference and to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our commitment as custodians of the environment, we are holding a sustainable living festival. Bundanoon Earth Festival.

The Festival, held in our local hall, will feature over 50 stalls/displays as well as a program of speakers who will talk on environmental issues.
